1st-3rd Grade Music Fall 16 Week Semester Class (Self-Paced)
In this 16-session self-paced General Music class, students will learn the basics of music (note names, rhythms, etc.), Christian songs and composers.
Course Summary
In this class, students will learn the basics of music, such as rhythms (note names and note values), instruments and note letter names. Each month the students will learn a Christian song and will learn about a famous composer. Most lessons include a worksheet that should be printed before class. All of the work will be done during class, there is no outside work. Each lesson is approximately 30 minutes in length and contains content I have taught in various Christian schools.
These are the songs students will learn in this class: Let Everything that Breathes Praise the Lord, The Star-Spangled Banner, Books of the Old Testament, Books of the New Testament, America the Beautiful, Thank You God, If You're Thankful and You Know It, The Orchestra Song, Silent Night, Joy to the World and Go Tell It On the Mountain.
These are the composers we will be studying: Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Sergei Prokofiev, George Frederic Handel and Franz Joseph Haydn.

Course Curriculum

I am passionate about Music and Christian education! I was a Music teacher in 3 Christian schools (Guam and NY) for 20 years. I have taught K-12 General Music, Band, Choir, Ukulele, Music Theory and Music History, as well as private piano and ukulele lessons. I switched to teaching online in 2017 so I could stay home with our miracle baby boy. For the past 3 years I have taught virtual music classes for a local Christian school as well as piano and ukulele lessons via zoom. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Bob Jones University and a Master’s Degree in Church Music from Pensacola Christian College. I am currently K-12 Music certified through ASCI.
