Using simple items typically found around your home we will complete 4 science experiments. Our yummy experiments include making ice cream in a bag, phases of the moon with Oreos, lemon volcano and editable bubbles.
Little scientists have the option of getting the weekly supplies and participating in the science activity or may choose to simply observe. Science/STEM/STEAM activities include:
Week One - Ice Cream in a Bag - Practice the scientific method as we change states of matter while making delicious ice cream.
Week Two - Lemon Volcano - Create a fun chemical reaction as we mix an acid and base together with our colorful, foaming lemon volcanos!
Week Three - Phases of the Moon with Oreos - Learn about the phases of the moon with delicious Oreos.
Week Four - Edible Bubbles - Using different types of candy, we will blow strands of edible bubbles.
Lastly, we will experiment with different ingredients in order to make longer lasting bouncing bubbles. Final online team quiz can be played over and over again and will cover all of the key terms learned throughout this course. Each week includes an official science journal, supply list and corresponding instructional video. I will provide step-by-step instructional videos for our activities in order for students to participate along at home. I often include my own children in videos to create more of an age appropriate “classroom like” environment. I want your learner to feel like they are part of a class and will be available for any questions or communications. New videos will be available each Monday. Each week students will get a “Scientist Journal” AKA a printable one-page questionnaire, supplies and information worksheet. Students can fill out the questionnaire with their hypothesis and observations and share it in the classroom.
