Course Summary
10 weeks of FUN 2nd grade learning and activities! Science experiments, math and reading digital escape rooms, parts of speech, reading comprehension and more!
Throw out those boring old textbooks and get interactive with these fun second grade lessons! Since this is a "flex" style course there are no live classes. Instead, there are new video lessons released every week for learners to view, pause, rewatch and study at their convenience. Super thrilling digital escape rooms help learners practice reading and math skills. The escape room games are a continuous story that takes place at Jurassic World Park and builds upon the last one. Each escape room consists of 20+ questions and includes a variety of reading and math such as: word problems, double and triple digit addition and subtraction, reading comprehension questions, fractions, skip counting, identifying complex shapes, patterns, fill in the missing number, place value, telling time, critical thinking and more. When learners share a screenshot of the final page each week they earn a bonus level at the weeks five and ten. We will also have a team Kahoot quiz every week with reading comprehension questions based off the story in the math escape room game. Every week we will perform hands-on science experiments together while filling out our provided science journals. I will provide step-by-step instructional videos for our activities in order for students to participate along at home. I often include my own children in videos to create more of an age appropriate classroom like environment. I want your learner to feel like they are part of a class and will be available for any questions or communications. New videos will be available each week for 10 weeks. Each week students will get a “Scientist Journal” AKA a printable one-page questionnaire, supplies and information worksheet. Students can fill out the questionnaire with their hypothesis and observations.
Here's a breakdown of the fun we will be having:
WEEK 1 - “Colorful Pennies” science experiment. Games Included: Jurassic World math escape room - Part 1, Kahoot reading comprehension, Jurassic themed word search - Part 1, AW/AU game, skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s games.
WEEK 2 - “Sprouting Seeds” science experiment. Games Included: Jurassic World math escape room - Part 2, Kahoot reading comprehension, Jurassic themed word search - Part 2, skip counting by 3’s game.
WEEK 3 - “Slinky Physics” science experiment. Games Included: Jurassic World math escape room - Part 3, Kahoot reading comprehension, Jurassic themed word search - Part 3, skip counting by 6’s game.
WEEK 4 - “Hot Chocolate Science” experiment. Games Included: Jurassic World math escape room - Part 4, Kahoot reading comprehension, Jurassic themed word search - Part 4, skip counting by 6’s game.
WEEK 5 - “Fishing for Ice” states of matter science experiment. Games Included: Jurassic World math escape room - Bonus level 5, Kahoot reading comprehension, Jurassic themed word search - Part 5, skip counting by 7’s game.
WEEK 6 - 2-in-1 Air Pressure science experiments - “Ballon in a Bottle” and “Water on the Rise”. Games Included: Jurassic volcanic math escape room - Part 1, Games Included: Jurassic volcanic word search - Part 6, Kahoot reading comprehension, spelling game, word search -le, skip counting by 8’s game.
WEEK 7 - 3-in-1 “Frozen Powers” supercooling ice science experiment. Games Included: Jurassic volcanic math escape room - Part 2, Jurassic volcanic word search - Part 7, Kahoot reading comprehension, homophones spelling game #1, OI / OY sorting game, skip counting by 9’s game.
WEEK 8 - Bubble Science 2-in-1 experiment where we make edible bubbles and three different bubble solutions. Games Included: Jurassic volcanic math escape room - Part 3, Jurassic volcanic word search - Part 8, Kahoot reading comprehension, sight word search, homophones spelling game #2.
WEEK 9 - “Super Bouncy Balls” and Neuton's 3rd Law of Motion science experiment. Games Included: Jurassic volcanic math escape room - Part 4, Jurassic volcanic word search - Part 9, Kahoot reading comprehension, reading and sorting suffix -ed sounds game.
WEEK 10 - “Soap Science” and “Surface Tension” 2-in-1 science experiments. Team Kahoot quiz reviewing our science terms for the entire course. Games Included: Jurassic volcanic math escape room - Bonus level 5, Jurassic volcanic word search - Part 10, Kahoot reading comprehension, double consonants, digraphs and contraction match up games.

Hello parents and students,
I started Teach Me Truth Christian School because of the need for families to have a safe space for learning. After reading, "Mama Bear Apologetics", I recognized the call for a Christian education platform. Not only teaching children about the Bible, but also teaching apologetics that back up the Bible with science, logic, facts, history and intellectual reasoning. I am passionate about homesteading, homeschooling and working on becoming more independent from the world and government. Most schools in person and online censor Christianity and promote everything else - and I mean everything else! As parents, our jobs are becoming more difficult to protect our children from the evils of this world while at the same time educating them about the truth. Soon after starting the online platform, God called me to start an in-person school as well.
My Teaching Style: I encourage learning through enthusiastic engagement. I believe children learn best through curiosity or play. Teaching online has been my passion for six years. I was an online English teacher with VIPKID for over three years and an Outschool teacher since 2020. VIPKID taught me how to engage with students in a virtual setting. They taught me how to use props, singing and demonstrations to increase learning. I encourage student output and participation during class.
About Me: I have a bachelor's degree in marketing and science. I am an entrepreneur and business owner. I have also been in the beauty industry for over 15 years. I am a homeschooling mom of five. I am constantly seeking creative ways for my children and students to learn new things.
My Homeschooling Style: As a homeschooling mom of 4, my favorite part of teaching is sort of "tricking" them into learning. What I mean by this is, we often play learning games and sing songs. In addition to this, my children have learning games on their devices and we listen to learning songs in the car. Some of our favorite online resources include: Easy Peasy Homeschool, Education.com and Miacademy and Flock School. Some of our favorite learning games are: ABC and sight word bingo, memory match, shout-and-grab, ABC caterpillar board game, dinosaur nest game, Uno, chess, checkers, matching, fill in the blank phonics sounds and more. We love arts and craft time as well as create weekly science projects. My kiddos enjoy both live and self-paced online classes. Our kids participate in chores, taking care of our chickens, ducks, dog and cat. We love projects and currently are building a chicken coop. Lastly, our book work is a small part of learning each day.
